Mild purple-velvet. A colour that might suit a young person’s bowtie. Mulberry and blackberry preserve; classic Grenache aromatics of boiled lollies and berried confectionery. Spice, also; aniseed, lemon thyme.... Lifting and light and attractive. The palate tingles with more mulberry, plum and blackberry fruits which are both mouth filling and quick-silvered. The hint of fruit depth, yet an overall medium-bodied tone and texture. Speaking of which: gentle tannins and quietly spoken acidity. Youthful austerity you would expect from McLaren Vale Grenache but fine and flavoursome keeping with the sensations registered by the nose.

Enjoy this Grenache with your family butcher’s freshest sausage, but not tortured on the barbecue. A wood-fired oven, a baked sausage at low heat. Mustard, relish, a green salad. Some cous-cous. A simple bottle of delicious red wine wants foodstuffs of delicious simplicity.
