WILLIAM BUCKLEY (1780-1856)
Is thought to be the first European settler in the Bellarine Peninsula, having
escaped the penal colony in Sorrento. He lived with the native Aboriginal
community on the Bellarine Peninsula for 32 years with great affection and
respect. Later in life Buckley become a bricklayer and this label and brand pays
homage to this remarkable man and the Australian wine region that has now
become such a special place

Tasting Notes
Close your eyes and imagine you’re on holidays, relaxing by the beach. You have a
bottle of Buckley’s pale straw Sauvignon Blanc chilled by yours side. Pour a glass
and smell the musky, tropical fruits and fresh cut grass. Inhale deeply. The first sip
confirms those smells, and refreshes you in that hot tropic sun as the delightfully crisp
citrus notes with nashi pear revive your taste buds.
You sigh with contentment and... The rest is up to you!

Wine Making
Our 2016 vintage was machine picked then pressed as whole bunches. They
enjoyed a lovely, long cool fermentation in stainless steel houses. They
unfortunately didn’t get long in there before being divided into bottles to retain
their crisp freshness.
